Dr. James Jonas
Dr Jonas knew he wanted to be in healthcare from a young age. After attending Southwest Texas State (now Texas State) University, he got his doctorate from Parker University with a BS in Health and Wellness in 2007. Dr Jonas has spent over 15 years in clinical practice, seeing over 15,000 injuries. He was an industry leader in resolution and completed treatment plans. He has taught continuing education in pain, neurology, patient outcomes, and clinical applications. Despite this, he still saw gaps in current models focused solely on structure. He wanted to focus on current and emerging research that shows the nervous system is critical in healing. He founded Accelerate to focus on the neurology of healing and add technology into practice. He is passionate about what he does. He believes in healing the person, not the diagnosis. Dr Jonas wants everyone to be the leading expert in their own life. He continues to be active in continuing education courses for the sake of knowledge, hoping to stay ahead of the competition. He is a New Braunfels native living with his wife and three boys. When not in practice, he participates in many outdoor activities and is an avid guitar player.

Dr. Alyssa Watts
Dr. Alyssa Watts is a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy (OCS), a Therapeutic Pain Specialist (TPS), and a Fellow in Pain Science (FPS) with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from South College in Knoxville, TN. As an experienced physical therapist specializing in orthopedic care and chronic pain management, Dr. Watts is passionate about helping patients overcome movement limitations, reduce pain, and return to the activities they love.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Watts earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology at Ohio University. Dr. Watts’ journey into physical therapy was shaped by her own challenges as a former Division I soccer player who underwent four knee surgeries — including three ACL reconstructions. These experiences demanded not only physical rehabilitation, but a deep mental resilience, which ignited her identity shift from athlete to provider. Inspired by the quote “If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you,” Dr. Watts brings clinical expertise and heartfelt connection to her work. She is committed to walking with her patients through the hard stuff — the fear, the hesitation, the pain, and the sticking points.
Dr. Watts integrates evidence-based practices with a personalized approach to each patient. Whether treating sports injuries, post-operative conditions, or persistent pain, she believes in empowering patients through education, movement, and progressive rehabilitation strategies. With advanced training in pain neuroscience, manual therapy, and functional movement, Dr. Watts is dedicated to bridging the gap between science and compassionate care.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Watts serves as adjunct faculty at Baylor University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program. Teaching allows her to help shape the minds of future physical therapists, a role she finds both fulfilling and energizing. Mentoring students not only rejuvenates her own passion for the profession, but also extends her impact—reaching more patients through the next generation of PTs she helps inspire and educate.
Dr. Watts chose to join Accelerate Sport & Spine to provide top-level care to high performers not only in sport, but in everyday life. The opportunity to deliver one-on-one care in a setting that values passion and purpose allows her to make a lasting impact. She is proud to be part of Accelerate’s mission to help patients rediscover their identity and reclaim their joy through movement.
When she’s not in the clinic, Dr. Watts enjoys staying active, traveling, catching baseball games with her husband Justin, and spending time with their daughter Finley and their three dogs—Murphy, Marley, and Dipstick.
